Rices Creek Owners Steve and Cathy Simpson
Simpson Rices Creek dates back to 1995, when Cathy and Steve Simpson, purchased a bare 25 acre sheep paddock on the fringes of the historic township of Auburn in the Clare Valley.
Both members of Trees for Life they set about landscaping and developing the block with thousands of native trees. Soon to follow was the 1300 olive tree orchard and 1½ ha vineyard of Riesling and Shiarz grapes.
In 2005 a Native Plant Nursery was opened offering a broad range of indigenous and native species suitable for the local environment. The nursery also provides a range of commercial olive trees, ceramic pots, wine barrels, garden supplies and info fact sheets. To complement the nursery, the cellar door was open in August 2006. The cellar door houses a range of olive products and local specialty food products, an art and craft gallery, and coffee and cake. The cellar door opens up to take in the native garden setting were you can eat, drink and watch the world go by.
